Week 9- Reflection

Dear my colleagues,
An intelligence is the ability to solve problems, or to create products, that are

 valued

within one or more cultural settings.

This is ninth week.
In the discussion board, we discussed much about learning styles and specifically  Howard Gardner's nine multiple intelligence types. Using internet for different intelligence types, PPTs, video clips, dictionary webpages, and others for sequential and global learners are mostly discussed ones in the discussion thread.

Actually, I am not much familar with the intrapersonal and existential intelligence types before as I heard the other seven types many time before. While trying to learn much about the styles and their integration into the language course, I learnt much from  the page http://epltt.coe.uga.edu/index.php?title=Multiple_Intelligences_and_Learning_Styles and http://www.thirteen.org/edonline/concept2class/mi/index_sub6.html

The webpage (http://www.thirteen.org/edonline/concept2class/mi/index.html)  presents us much detail about the multiple intelligence theory.

Here are some headlines mentioned there.

What is the theory of multiple intelligences (M.I.)?
How does this theory differ from the traditional definition of intelligence?
What do multiple intelligences have to do with my classroom?
How has M.I. theory developed since it was introduced in 1983?
Who are the critics of this theory and what do they say?
What are some benefits of using the multiple intelligences approach
in my school?

How can applying M.I. theory help students learn better?
How can I find out more about M.I. theory?

Technology is a great tool for the integration and catering various  multiple intelligence types at the same in the class. This week underlined its importance one more time and taught me that even creating a simple blog can increase my learners' intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence with self-paced activities and  well-designed online discussions.

Lastly, I am very thankful to my peer-review Janja for her fruitful comments about my final project. Her comments shed much light on me about creating a better final project. She helped me much and I hope I could help her with my comments about her project also.

Best.

Ali
